Novaya Gazeta Europe reports that the Chechen Republic will host the formal wedding ceremony of Adam Kadyrov, the 17-year-old son of regional leader Ramzan Kadyrov, on June 27.
The event coincides with the start of Muharram (this year's Islamic New Year began on June 26). High-profile guests from Middle Eastern nations are expected to attend. A source within Russia's Foreign Ministry verified that UAE Ambassador to Russia, Dr. Muhammad Ahmad Al Jaber, will cut short his holiday in Abu Dhabi to briefly visit Grozny on the wedding day and offer congratulations to Kadyrov's third son.
Sources indicate that arrangements for Adam Kadyrov's wedding have been underway for months. Chechen officials initially intended the ceremony to be a major political and social spectacle. However, the date was reportedly delayed at least once. A Nova-Europe insider familiar with the matter attributes this postponement largely to Ramzan Kadyrov's efforts to arrange a meeting between his son and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
