Court in Makhachkala satisfies the General Prosecutor's Office's claim to nationalize the Dagnefteprodukt oil refinery

The Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala has satisfied the suit of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office to nationalize the Dagnefteprodukt oil refinery. The civil suit of the Prosecutor General's Office against the state secretary of the republic, founder of the soccer club Anji Magomed-Sultan Magomedov, his children and related companies was reported today by RBC and "Kommersant" . In addition to Magomedov, the list of defendants includes the official's son, Magomed, head of SMB Holding, and three daughters - Savdat Magomedova, Khapisat Alpanaeva and Galimat Ismailova. Other defendants in the lawsuit are SMB Holding LLC, which includes Dagnefteprodukt, and Trans Tek LLC. The companies named as third parties are Dagestan New Claims, Kaspetrolservice, Nefteproduktsnab, and Rosimushchestvo. According to the version of the Prosecutor General's Office, Magomedov privatized Dagnefteprodukt - the only operator of oil transshipment in the port of Makhachkala - using his official position. The official then reorganized the assets into companies under his control, including SMB Holding. The court recognized that the transactions were carried out with violations and the money for the assets was not paid to the budget, and ruled to seize Magomedov's and his relatives' stakes in Kaspetrolservice, SMB Holding and other companies. Magomed-Sultan Magomedov was detained the day before, June 25, in the case of embezzlement during the privatization of "Dagnefteproduct" and the activities of the company "SMB-Holding", a source told RBC. "Dagnefteprodukt" became private in 2005, then it was headed by Magomedov. Later, the company became part of SMB-Holding, which is headed by Magomed Magomedov, the detainee's son. Other relatives of the official are also among the founders. As Novaya Gazeta Europe reported, Dagnefteprodukt is closely linked to the Makhachkala port, which was privatized in 2024 and taken over by Suleiman Kerimov's structures. The Russian authorities expect to seriously increase the role of this port in international trade.
