Natalia Taranushenko, a Russian language and literature instructor from Protvino, Moscow region, has been convicted of disseminating "false information" about Russia's military forces while exploiting her professional status and demonstrating hostile intent, according to OVD-Info.

Along with receiving a seven-year prison sentence in absentia, she was prohibited from teaching for three years.

The charges stemmed from a lesson Taranushenko conducted for eighth-grade students in April 2022, during which she discussed the Bucha massacre and drew parallels between Russia's leadership and Nazi Germany in the 1930s.

Authorities initiated legal proceedings against her two years later following a complaint filed by the father of two pupils. Shortly afterward, she fled Russia.
