Renowned businessman Elon Musk announced the formation of his own political force called "America." The corresponding statement appeared on his social media pages.
On U.S. Independence Day, July 4, the billionaire conducted a poll among his followers about the need for a third party in the country. 65% of the voting participants supported this initiative.
"Looting the state through corruption and unchecked spending is not democracy—it's a one-party dictatorship. The 'America' party was created today to restore your freedoms," the entrepreneur explained in his post.
The main goal of the new party is to secure 2-3 seats in the Senate and 8-10 seats in the House of Representatives. As Musk noted on social media platform X: "Even with a small advantage in the legislative bodies, this will be enough to become the deciding voice on contentious issues and ensure the passage of laws that align with the real interests of citizens."
Previously, the billionaire had supported Donald Trump's candidacy and, after his victory, headed the "Government Efficiency Department" in the Republican administration. However, at the end of May, he resigned from this position, leading to a public conflict between him and Trump. Among Musk's recent targets of criticism was Trump's "Big Beautiful Law," which involves increasing the national debt and funding measures to counter migration.
