Five Russian soldiers are facing trial in Kursk Region for alleged looting, banditry, and particularly brutal murder, as reported by Kommersant. The accused, all serving in an assault unit, reportedly committed these crimes during military operations.

Court documents reveal disturbing details of one murder case involving a fellow serviceman. Defense attorneys stated the victim was killed following a personal dispute, with the accused claiming they "handled" a comrade attempting to desert. According to official records cited by Kommersant, the perpetrators shot the victim seven times in the legs with an AK-74 before delivering a fatal headshot, then attempted to destroy evidence by burning the body in a basement.

While the soldiers admit to taking minor items from abandoned buildings - which they claim were necessary for basic living conditions - they maintain their innocence regarding robbery charges. The newspaper notes that details of other alleged crimes in the case remain undisclosed.
