Ukraine is expecting support from its allies that was discussed during the G7 summit in order to push Russia toward peace. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in his evening address on June 24.
“Our operation, including in Crimea, has been carefully calculated. And the way it is continuing clearly proves that if Ukraine gets what we discussed with our partners within the G7 framework — and that depends on the partners’ decision — we will promptly create conditions under which Russia will be forced to choose peace,” Zelensky said.
According to the president, Kyiv is hoping for a positive response from partners who, in his words, “clearly know what is at stake.” Zelensky did not specify what kind of assistance he meant.
In the same address, he said that Ukraine’s long-range strikes are achieving their goals and disrupting Russia’s military logistics. He also stated that, following attacks on oil refineries, fuel shortages are now being observed in more than 60 Russian regions.
The report was published on the 1,581st day of the war. Earlier, the Ukrainian military said it had destroyed one of the three bridges connecting Crimea with the mainland. There were also reports of power disruptions on the peninsula and a lack of gasoline.
Zelensky’s statement therefore came amid reports of continuing strikes on facilities linked to Russian military infrastructure and supply chains.
