According to RBC, Google representatives have issued a statement regarding disruptions in the operation of the video conferencing service Google Meet in Russia. The company emphasized that the cause of the malfunctions is not related to technical issues on its end.
The official press release states: "We are aware of issues with user access to Google Meet in Russia; this is not related to technical problems on Google’s side."
Recently, Russian Google Meet users have increasingly encountered regular service disruptions. The most common complaints include the inability to make calls or issues with audio. Meanwhile, Roskomnadzor has stated that it has not imposed any restrictions on the application’s operation.
Earlier, in early August, Roskomnadzor reported blocking domestic calls via WhatsApp and Telegram in Russia, explaining that these services had become "primary platforms for fraud and extortion." Following this, Google Meet rose to the second position in the ranking of the most downloaded free communication apps in the Russian App Store.
