The state messenger MAX, along with the VK and Odnoklassniki apps, is no longer available in the Google Play store for Android devices.
The disappearance of the services was reported by RIA Novosti and confirmed by VK’s press service. The company did not specify what exactly caused the apps to be removed from the store.
A few days earlier, the European Union imposed sanctions on the developers of VK and MAX. European authorities said the decision was based on their assessment that VK “technically supports the suppression of civil society and the democratic opposition” in Russia.
Earlier, in June 2026, the VK and MAX apps had already been removed from the App Store. After that, Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service issued a warning to Apple, alleging “discrimination against Russian search engines,” and threatened the company with a fine of 4 billion rubles.
The editors later updated the report: at 13:52, they added information about the removal of Odnoklassniki and changed the headline and the first paragraph.
