An 83-year-old survivor of the Leningrad siege, Lyudmila Vasilyeva, has been fined 10,000 rubles for allegedly "discrediting" the Russian military, according to Mediazona reports.

Authorities filed charges against Vasilyeva after she staged a solo protest marking the anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. On February 24, she stood outside St. Petersburg's Gostiny Dvor shopping center holding a sign that read: "People! Let's stop the war! We are responsible for peace on planet Earth."
