Mastodon co-founder Brent Hinds tragically died in a motorcycle accident. As reported by Atlanta News First and later confirmed by Rolling Stone citing the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office, the incident occurred the previous evening in Atlanta, Georgia.
Hinds was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle when a collision with an SUV took place. Police officers arriving at the scene found the musician's body with no signs of life.
According to preliminary information, the cause of the accident was the SUV driver failing to yield to the motorcyclist. Hinds was 51 years old at the time of his death.
Brent Hinds was one of the founders, former guitarist, and vocalist of the American metal band Mastodon. In 2018, he and his bandmates won a Grammy Award in the "Best Metal Performance" category for the composition "Sultan's Curse." In March 2025, the musician left the band.
