On one of the Russian-language illegal forums where cybercriminals and experts in unauthorized access to personal data communicate, offers for the large-scale purchase of accounts in the Max messenger have been observed, as reported by the publication "Novaya-Europe."
The cost of one account is not specified in the advertisement. The author of this offer has previously shown interest in carding, as well as in opportunities to obtain passcodes and PINs from bank accounts. A representative of "Novaya Gazeta Europe" was unable to establish contact with the initiator of the service.
Carding is a form of fraud involving the theft and use of others' bank cards to make purchases, withdraw funds, or obtain other illegal benefits. Through fake accounts in Max, carders may attempt to obtain bank card data from potential victims.
On September 4, Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, stated to journalists at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok that accounts in Max are actively being sold and purchased online.
