Pakistan has formally endorsed former U.S. President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, citing his mediation in tensions with India. The government made this announcement through its official social media channels.
In its statement, Pakistan praised Trump for displaying "exceptional strategic vision and diplomatic skill" by engaging both Islamabad and New Delhi during the spring conflict, which ultimately reduced hostilities. "President Trump's approach reflects his consistent record of practical diplomacy and successful conflict resolution," the statement read.
Meanwhile, Trump himself referenced his role in facilitating peace between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, with a treaty expected to be signed in Washington soon, as reported by the BBC.
"Yet I won’t receive the Nobel for this," Trump remarked, noting that his peacemaking efforts—including preventing conflicts between India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo, and maintaining stability between Egypt and Ethiopia—have gone unrecognized.
The Nobel Peace Prize honors individuals who have significantly advanced international brotherhood, reduced military forces, or promoted peace initiatives. While government officials and lawmakers can nominate candidates, the final decision rests with the Nobel Committee.
