Former Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov faces additional corruption charges involving a 152-million-ruble bribe allegedly received from Alexander Fomin, head of Olimpsitistroy construction firm, according to TASS citing court documents.
Prosecutors filed this latest case in late May 2024, supplementing prior charges from April 2023 where Ivanov allegedly accepted 1.2 billion rubles from the same businessman. The initial bribery case is scheduled for trial this autumn.
Appointed deputy defense minister in 2016, Ivanov oversaw military construction projects including the Vostochny spaceport, along with housing and medical infrastructure development. His arrest last year stemmed from accusations of facilitating lucrative contracts for ministry suppliers, causing 1.185 billion rubles in damages.
Prosecutors expanded charges in October 2023 with two new allegations: embezzling over 3 billion rubles from Interkommerts Bank and misappropriating 200 million rubles during ferry purchases for the Kerch Strait crossing. Ivanov previously served under then-Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
