Renowned composer Eugeni Doga has passed away at 88, as confirmed by Moldova's Ministry of Culture.
The ministry announced his death occurred today, though no details regarding the cause were provided.
In an official statement, the cultural authority described Doga as "not merely a national composer but a universal artist of the soul," adding that his legacy would endure as "a bridge between classical and contemporary music, between the heart and the cosmos. All of Moldova will resonate as he envisioned it!"
Moldovan President Maia Sandu declared a national day of mourning for Doga's funeral.
Doga, a celebrated Soviet, Moldovan, and Russian composer, held the title of People's Artist of the USSR. He created numerous works for theater and film, including his famous waltz from *My Affectionate and Gentle Beast*, which UNESCO ranks among the four greatest musical compositions of the 20th century, alongside works by Anthony Hopkins, Sergei Prokofiev, and Johann Strauss.
