Andrey Badalov, a vice-president at Russian pipeline giant Transneft, has passed away, according to reports from security-linked Telegram channels Mash, Baza, and Shot.
Sources indicate the executive fell from his apartment window on Rublevskoe Highway this morning. Baza reports that while Badalov resided on the 10th floor of the building, the fatal fall occurred from the 17th-floor balcony. No further details have been provided.
A law enforcement source told TASS that the preliminary assessment points to suicide.
As noted by Echo, this marks at least the tenth death among senior oil and gas executives since the Ukraine conflict began.
Between 2019 and 2021, Badalov led the Voskhod research institute, which operates under the Ministry of Digital Development. The institute contributes to state IT initiatives, including the development of automated systems like "Vybory" (Elections) and "Justice."
He joined Transneft as vice-president in July 2021, overseeing digital transformation, IT infrastructure, and automation of industrial and corporate processes.
