The Moscow oil refinery in Kapotnya, damaged in Ukrainian drone strikes, will not resume operations until at least the end of 2026. Two sources told Reuters this.
According to one of the agency’s sources, restoring the facility will take substantial time.
“Repairs will take at least six months,” the Reuters source said.
Reuters reports that within a single month, Ukrainian drones attacked the Moscow refinery twice, on June 16 and June 18. Following those strikes, both primary oil-processing units were put out of operation one after the other.
The Moscow refinery is among the country’s largest oil-processing plants. It is regarded as a key fuel supplier for Moscow and the Moscow region, meaning a prolonged shutdown could be significant for the regional market.
Reuters notes that its information on the recovery timeline comes from two sources familiar with the situation at the plant after the strikes.
