Major General Mikhail Gudkov, who served as Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Russia's Navy overseeing coastal troops and artillery, has been killed in the Kursk region. The announcement came from Primorsky Krai Governor Oleg Kozhemyako.

The regional leader stated the officer died "while carrying out his military duties alongside his comrades." Kozhemyako noted that even after assuming his high-ranking naval position, Gudkov continued visiting marine frontline positions personally. "He fell together with his trusted companion and our mutual friend Nariman Shikhaliyev. They were true marines and exemplary officers," the governor added.

Russia's Defense Ministry verified Gudkov's death, reporting he was killed on July 2 near the Kursk region's border with Ukraine.
