Telegram founder Pavel Durov commented on the blocking of the messenger in Russia and promised to make its traffic "more difficult to detect and block." This was reported on his social media.
"Welcome back to the 'Digital Resistance,' my Russian brothers and sisters. The whole nation is now mobilized to bypass these absurd restrictions. We, too, will adapt, making Telegram traffic more difficult to detect and block," he wrote.
The entrepreneur added that several years ago Iran banned Telegram, and "the result was similar to the Russian one." According to him, 65 million Russians use Telegram daily via VPN, while more than 50 million send messages.
The day before, Russian banks experienced a large-scale outage. According to Forbes, internet blocks may have been the cause.
