Tsargrad founder Konstantin Malofeev said he was stopping work on his channel in the Max messenger while also criticizing the blocking of Telegram. He wrote this in a column published by Tsargrad under the headline “Let’s Turn Telegram Back On”.
According to Malofeev, Telegram was shut down “for security reasons,” but, he argues, the expected effect never materialized. He wrote that after the block, “diversion and terror did not decrease,” and claimed that security itself arrived on June 18.
“And where was the great saving effect of a disabled Telegram? How many drones turned back in horror after learning that Russians’ messages were loading badly?”
Malofeev also criticized Max. In his view, the service does not allow users to receive push notifications during air-raid alerts even though the app is on a “whitelist.” He listed other shortcomings as well: no полноценcomment system, unstable stories and broadcasts, non-transparent statistics, weak analytics and monetization, as well as crashes, freezes, and problems sending messages.
He also referred to suspicions about spyware functions and difficulties with the app stores of Apple and Huawei AppGallery. At the end of the text, Malofeev said he was “freezing” his channel on Max, though not deleting it.
At the same time, in the same article he called for “getting on with the war” after Telegram is unblocked: making Starlink stop working for Ukrainians and striking “infrastructure with tactical nuclear weapons.” He also wrote that if Ukraine wants to make Crimea an island, then Kyiv should become an “island” without communications or electricity.
