According to The Daily Telegraph, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed readiness to halt military actions and recognize Russia's annexation of part of Ukraine's territories if security guarantees are provided. He reportedly communicated this to European politicians ahead of the upcoming talks between Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska.
The publication cites informed sources stating that Zelensky clearly outlined the limits of possible concessions—only territories already occupied by Russia. By security guarantees, he means military assistance from partners and the prospect of NATO membership. The Daily Telegraph notes that this position effectively implies freezing the current front line.
The meeting between Trump and Putin is scheduled for August 15 in Anchorage. U.S. authorities will temporarily restrict flights over the city that day, as announced by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy stated on his Twitter account that the state is prepared to host the summit. However, some local residents are protesting the Russian president's visit. The group Stand Up Alaska has announced a rally titled "Alaska Stands with Ukraine," which will take place ahead of the leaders' meeting.
