According to The New York Times, citing informed sources, the Russian side may be involved in the hacking of the U.S. federal judicial documents database that occurred in July.

Journalists note that the exact perpetrators of the attack have not yet been identified—they could be either hacker groups or intelligence agencies, possibly operating through third countries. Some informed sources claim the incident was the result of years-long attempts to infiltrate the system.

As reported by NYT, the attackers showed particular interest in criminal cases in New York and several other U.S. cities. Notably, some of the documents they attempted to access mentioned individuals with Russian and Eastern European surnames.

Upon discovering the breach, administrators of the U.S. judicial system recommended officials promptly remove the most sensitive materials from the database. However, the extent of the attack's success remains unknown.

Meanwhile, in recent weeks, Russian information systems have also faced hacker attacks by unidentified actors. For example, in late July, a major disruption occurred in Aeroflot's operations, causing delays for over 50 domestic flights.
