The private military company Wagner has declared the withdrawal of its forces from Mali, according to an official statement from its press service.
Wagner representatives stated they had successfully completed their "primary mission," noting that "all regional capitals have been restored to legitimate government control." Consequently, the mercenary group is now pulling out of the country.
"For three and a half years, Wagner fighters stood side by side with Mali's people in the battle against terrorism," the press service announced. "We eliminated thousands of militants and their leaders who had terrorized civilians for years. Our efforts enabled local patriots to build a capable, disciplined army ready to defend their homeland."
