"Torpedo" was left out of the Russian Premier League (RPL) because of contractual obligations involving matches scheduled just prior to the tournament's commencement. The club's owner and general director faced arrest on charges of attempting to influence a referee through bribery.

The Russian Football Union's (RFU) Control and Disciplinary Committee has removed Torpedo Moscow from the Russian Premier League (RPL) after finding evidence of match-fixing attempts. According to the RFU's official statement, the club also received a financial penalty of 5 million rubles for this violation.
