Ukraine has suggested conducting a third round of discussions with Russia, as announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his nightly speech on July 19.

Zelenskyy revealed that preparations are underway for another prisoner exchange. "National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov has informed me that he proposed another meeting to Russian representatives for next week. We must intensify the negotiation process and take all necessary steps to secure a ceasefire. <...> Ultimately, a leaders' summit will be essential to guarantee lasting peace," the president stated.

While the exact timing for renewed Russia-Ukraine talks remains undetermined, details will be finalized later, according to a TASS report citing an unnamed source.

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted in late June that the third round would focus on comparing the two nations' memorandums. He acknowledged the stark differences between the documents but emphasized that ongoing dialogue between Moscow and Kyiv seeks common ground.

Previous negotiations occurred on May 16 (first round) and June 2 (second round), both hosted in Istanbul.
