Ukrainian nationals previously held in detention, who had been stranded in the basement area of the buffer zone near the Verkhny Lars border crossing between Russia and Georgia, emerged around 10:30 PM Moscow time to stage a demonstration before Georgian border officials. This account was provided directly to "Novaya Gazeta Europe" by the Ukrainian protesters themselves.

The protesters numbered between 60 and 70 individuals, according to their statements. The news outlet has obtained personal information about certain participants.
