The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg sentenced former Ura.ru editor Denis Allayarov to five years in a prison colony in a bribery case (Part 3, Article 291 of the Russian Criminal Code), Mediazona writes.

He was also fined 1.2 million rubles and banned from working in journalism for four years after his release.

According to investigators, Allayarov bribed his uncle, Andrei Karpov, the head of the criminal investigation unit of Yekaterinburg police department No. 10. The investigation says he received several operational reports from Karpov and paid a total of 120,000 rubles for them.

At first, Allayarov denied guilt and said the money was intended for medicine for his grandmother. However, during questioning on April 1, he admitted guilt.

At the same time, the journalist said he had been helping his uncle because of his financial difficulties, and that it was Karpov himself who suggested charging for the reports and named the amount. The officer admitted guilt, testified against his nephew, and received a four-year suspended sentence.

Denis Allayarov was detained in June 2025. At that time, security forces searched the editorial office of the propaganda outlet Ura.ru in Yekaterinburg.
