According to calculations by Novaya-Europe, Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian refineries have put about 32% of the country’s oil refining capacity out of action. That volume accounts for roughly 28% of gasoline production in Russia.
Latest strikes
Reuters, citing sources, reported that after a drone attack on May 15, the Ryazan Oil Refining Company fully stopped operations. It is the third-largest refinery in Russia by processing volume, with a capacity of 17.1 million tons per year.
The same Reuters sources said that after a drone attack on May 17, the Moscow refinery in Kapotnya also suspended operations. It ranks ninth among Russia’s largest oil enterprises, with a processing volume of 12 million tons per year.
Reuters sources stressed that the drone attack caused only minor damage to the Moscow refinery, but operations were halted to prevent risks. According to them, production may resume within the next few days.
In addition, today, after Ukrainian drone strikes, a fire broke out at the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery in Kstovo. The facility processes about 17 million tons of oil per year. It is unknown whether the plant halted operations.
This refinery was not included in Novaya-Europe’s calculations.
