Russian and Belarusian gymnasts cleared to compete internationally under their flag and anthem

The Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation has allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete in international events using their national symbols.

Details. The decision took effect after a meeting held on May 16-17 in Sharm el-Sheikh.

It applies to all disciplines of the Russian Gymnastics Federation: artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline, acrobatic gymnastics, and aerobic gymnastics.

The first athletes to compete under the Russian flag will be representatives of acrobatic gymnastics at the World Cup event in Burgas, Bulgaria, scheduled for May 29-31.

Russian gymnasts were suspended from competitions under the auspices of the International Gymnastics Federation in 2022. Since 2024, they had only been allowed to compete with neutral status.

Earlier, Olympic champion Margarita Mamun spoke about the cruelty of Irina Viner and other coaches. According to her, one of them harassed her when she was a child.
