Moscow and the Moscow region came under a large-scale attack from Ukraine, and according to the authorities, three people were killed.
Ukrainian monitoring паблики said it was the most extensive attack on the Russian capital since the start of the invasion. According to them, dozens of sites were damaged.
Deaths and injuries
The governor of the Moscow region said three people were killed during the overnight attack. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin added that 12 more people were injured, “mostly near the checkpoint of the Moscow oil refinery.”
In Khimki, a drone hit a private home: a woman was killed, and another person was reportedly trapped under the rubble. Two men were killed in the village of Pogorelki near Mytishchi. Drones also damaged homes in Krasnogorsk, Istra, and near Naro-Fominsk, where four people were injured.
According to Sobyanin, more than 120 drones were shot down near Moscow over the past 24 hours.
What was targeted
Sobyanin said one of the strikes hit the checkpoint of the Moscow oil refinery, where construction workers were injured.
The outlet ASTRA reported that the Elma technopark in Zelenograd was struck. According to the publication, it manufactures electronic equipment, measuring instruments, optical products, and consumer goods.
The Solnechnogorsk fuel loading station was also reported to have been attacked. It is a major fuel-handling facility in the Moscow region used for the storage, transfer, and shipment of gasoline and diesel fuel.
Airport and Defense Ministry figures
Sheremetyevo Airport said drone debris had fallen on its grounds. The airport stated that the debris was located at a safe distance from passenger service areas and aircraft operations zones.
About an hour earlier, Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency had announced flight restrictions at Sheremetyevo. Those restrictions remained in place for more than four hours.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said that 556 Ukrainian drones were shot down over the country’s regions overnight.
