The Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg sentenced photographer Aleksandra Kuzyk to 18 months of forced labor after convicting her of illegal production of pornography under Paragraph «b», Part 3, Article 242 of the Russian Criminal Code. The ruling was reported by Komsomolskaya Pravda — Yekaterinburg.
The criminal case was opened almost a year ago. It began after a woman reported finding fanfiction published by Kuzyk in 2022 on her underage daughter’s device. Initially, the issue concerned stories describing same-sex relationships.
However, the final charges were tied to other books without illustrations but with “similar content,” which police seized during a search of the young woman’s home. A psychological and linguistic assessment concluded that the texts contained “signs of pornographic content.”
According to the media outlet Parni+, the case was prompted by the gay fanfiction story “Srednyachok” in the Stray Kids fandom, centered on the South Korean boy band. Kuzyk herself had previously spoken about this on a fanfiction publishing platform.
Prosecutors had asked for four years in a general-regime penal colony. The defendant fully admitted guilt and said writing fanfiction had long been her hobby. The court found her guilty and imposed 18 months of forced labor, with 10% of her income withheld in favor of the state.
After Russia adopted its law banning “LGBT propaganda,” authorities began blocking websites hosting amateur fiction, including Ficbook. In the autumn of 2025, the largest Russian-language manga platform, MangaLIB, was fined 14 million rubles, and its manager was fined 1.2 million rubles.
