Russia imported 5.17 thousand tons of aviation kerosene from Belarus in May, almost four times more than in May 2025. RBC reported this, citing data from the Center for Price Indices.
According to The Bell, deliveries in the first ten days of June reached another 2.6 thousand tons. The outlet noted that Russia does not publish official statistics on the production, domestic consumption, or exports of aviation fuel.
By the Center for Price Indices’ estimate, Russia produced 11.4 million tons of aviation fuel in 2025. Of that total, 1.4 million tons came from the Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya, which belongs to Gazprom Neft.
In June, the Moscow refinery was targeted in attacks by Ukrainian drones. Reuters, citing sources, reported that because of the damage, the plant will not resume operations until the end of 2026.
On June 1, 2026, the Russian government introduced a temporary ban on aviation kerosene exports for the first time. The authorities said the measure was needed to “ensure a stable situation on the domestic fuel market.”
Airline Azimut had earlier described the situation with aviation fuel in Russia as critical and said operating flights was losing “all economic sense.” The company said that in early June its main fuel supplier told it to cut consumption by about one-third from the requested volumes, citing force majeure at oil refineries and a resulting reduction in fuel supply on the market.
