The Yabloko party has nominated its candidates for elections to the State Duma and regional legislatures following its congress held the previous day. The party said this in a press release.
According to Yabloko, its federal list includes 275 candidates, while another 137 people were nominated in single-member districts.
Who was included in the federal slate
The nationwide section of the State Duma list includes the heads of the party’s Moscow, Chelyabinsk and Omsk branches, Kirill Goncharov, Yaroslav Shcherbakov and Tatyana Shneider; St. Petersburg deputy Dmitry Anisimov; Yana Ivanova, an aide to a deputy in the Pskov Region Legislative Assembly; Moscow political analyst Ivan Bolshakov; and Vitaly Isakov, who represents Lev Shlosberg in court.
The party also announced nominees for elections to the legislative assemblies of four regions: Sverdlovsk Region, Karelia, Kaliningrad Region and Leningrad Region.
Statement on pressure
Yabloko said that more than 40 party members had been deprived of the right to participate in elections because of politically motivated charges. According to the party, its chair Nikolai Rybakov and all of its regional deputies were held liable under the article on the “display of extremist symbols.”
The party also noted that deputy chairs Lev Shlosberg, Boris Vishnevsky and Vladimir Dorokhov have been added to the “foreign agents” register. Another deputy chair, Maksim Kruglov, was sentenced to seven years in a case over “fake news,” while Shlosberg, the party said, is being held in pre-trial detention on a similar charge.
The day before the congress, Yabloko also presented its program. The party said its main points were a swift ceasefire agreement, preventing nuclear escalation, diplomacy and negotiations, freedom of information, and an end to repression.
