In Irkutsk, four people were detained within a single day on suspicion of reselling fuel at inflated prices. The announcement was made by the press service of the regional Interior Ministry directorate.
According to the agency, in one case the fuel was being sold near a gas station, while in three other cases offers to sell fuel were posted online. Administrative protocols for illegal business activity were drawn up against all four detainees.
The police disclosed details for only one of the cases. According to the Interior Ministry, a 20-year-old Irkutsk resident posted an online ad offering fuel at 250 rubles per liter. Law enforcement officers responded to the offer and arrived at the agreed meeting place, where the young man was detained.
The police press service accompanied its report with photographs showing dozens of canisters.
The Interior Ministry added that the detainees could also face liability under another administrative article related to violating the high-alert regime.
A day earlier, Irkutsk Region Governor Igor Kobzev introduced that regime and set a fuel purchase limit of no more than 50 liters per vehicle. Fueling canisters has also been banned in the region.
